I finally received my DJI Mavic...gotta say, it's probably one of the best $1K options on the market for those not after pro quality...etc...easy and intuitive to fly...
This is my first time flying it at the beach...taken after surfing this morning...
Clip is edited down to 1280 x 720 h.264 MPEG-4...

haha...definitely...only 2nd time flying and 1st time at the beach...was getting lots of glare on my smartphone...and, didn't have much time after surfing this AM...plus, nothing worth risking it for...;-)

I do have the DJI Care Refresh...but, I'll still be cautious at this stage...until I start trusting the controller more...

The Mavic is incredible.  I am equally blown away by the specs on that little folding drone as on the inspire 2.  It all goes in the this is now? category.

Santa showed up a little late this year, but this afternoon a Autel Robotics X-Star Premium showed up on the doorstep. 



Not as fancy with all the bells, and whistles as some of the others mentioned previously....but with a 4K cam, 35 mph top speed, 25 minutes of flight time, nice full feature mobile app, "follow me" feature, and "failsafe" return if/when it gets outside of it's 1.2 mile range, all for $749 with the nice hard sided case included, just couldn't pass it up as my first entry in to the drone world.

Quick little "out of the box" test flight went well all things considered....didn't go too high, too far, or got too fancy since it was a "night flight" by the time I got everything all charged, and talking to each other....so I think it's going to be pretty easy to fly once the "beginner mode" finally gets shut off.   

It's pretty amazing how quickly this tech moved from DIY complexity and unreliability to mainstream product. That's one heck of a feature set for 800 bucks.

I ordered the Polar Pros version but it is not clear when they are shipping.  Maybe I will try the DJI.
