Just as the famous television character could save the day using anything from paper clips and duct tape, to chewing gum and candles, this French pilot is similarly resourceful.
“MacGyver...he...catch my dream,” Yves laughed.
This year he took the Weaving The Natural Way and completed a number of projects including a fish trap and basket using natural, hand-gathered bush materials.
Last year he constructed a wooden canoe saying at the time...“I ‘ope it does not sink!”
When he’s not travelling the world for his job as an Air France pilot he travels the world to hone is skills – he has built toboggans, kayaks, stand-up paddle boards and row boats and would like to build a log cabin.
“It is like a child’s dream. To have a log cabin with a canoe on the lake.”
And now his weaving skills fit perfectly into that dream – catching fish with traps fashioned from bush materials.
He first heard about Camp Creative in 2015 when he was travelling from Sydney to Brisbane and saw a flyer for the event and thought it would be perfect for him.
“When I am on vacation I don’t like to be on the beach doing nothing – it’s stupid.”
And of course the natural beauty and friendly nature of the town and other Camp Creative participants sealed the deal.
