pretty darn sporty.  i seen guys with thos kayaks surfing at pacifica. looks pretty fun, helmet highly recommended.  i think they have classes for that at hmb

Something similar happened to me river boarding once.
South Fore of the American at 5900cfs.
Got sucked into a strainer against some brush.
The day before that trip a friend warned me about that particular type of hazard with the river so high.
His words probably saved my life.
He told me if I get caught in one; CLIMB!
10-15 minutes with my head barely above water I managed to work my way out of it.
Had I not climbed immediately I'd be a goner.

Glad all is OK.   The few times I've gone whitewater rafting, I never worry about hazards, but now I do, thanks to growing up  a little and the existence of family  :smt001
