Jim, absolutely, I did not mean to imply otherwise.  The retailer needs to take responsibility regardless of how they obtained the inventory.  I'm only suggesting that the purchaser give the retailer the benefit of doubt in the process.   

As far as distribution goes, you certainly know better than I do.   But I was actually thinking about the recent distribution changes at Fanatic, and we all saw this past year, the (perhaps unauthorized) distribution of Sunova, Jimmy Lewis (Ride With Aloha), etc.

More and more the distribution of all the major brands are done by an owned distributor

The only ones I know of using an independent distributor is Starboard

So I kinda think there may be some retailer responsibility That is why I rec. you go back to Retailer and have him/her sort it out

To clarify, retailer immediately offered to rectify (although the SN issue wasn't mentioned). I'd also contacted Manufacturer who arranged replacement. It was them who'd advised to supply the SN and were taken a back when I couldn't find it in the usual place.

So I have the replacement. No problems there. I just don't want this kind of crap happening. The board had problems. This could be down to it being out the back door too to speak. Either way, it's dangerous.

What model year are you speaking of?

I'm assuming it was last years so 2015/16
