So it only stops sharks that are not actively huntung/feeding?

Sharks rarely mindlessly attack without investigating first.

I don't know how many people have been attacked by a charging shark, too. I know one of our members has, but afaik the vast majority of shark bites weren't charging attacks but curiosity bites.
Thresher in avatar and Soupfin Shark in signature both caught and pic taken by me.
3rd place Kayak Connection Derby, 2014
45th place / 423 pts / 3 Species - AOTY 2014 (nowhere to go but up!)
30th place / 1132.25 pts / 7 Species - AOTY 2015 (moving up a little!)

Always looking for new people to fish with!

i wonder if the developers have put any effort to test it on gws, since they are ambush strikers, what if they do not contact the ss, or have so much momentum, the ss doesnt have enough time to slow him down.

perhaps they should test it on a seal/dead seal, see if the gws would eat it.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record, take a look at this:

http://www.sardi.sa.gov.au/__data/assets/pdf_file/0005/173876/Risk_Assessment_of_the_Shark_Shield_Report_-_FINAL_19_06_2012.pdf

If you don't want to wade thru all of the details, skip to the the "discussion" section on p. 48. "Breaches" and "surface interactions" would seem to be the important things for kayakers, and the ss had a significant effect on both of those.

alot of great info.  looks like all those years of research and development is actually what drives the cost up.  imo, for some reason im not sold, and i was spending some time writing this response, i deleted it, because i realize this topic has been beaten to death and those are just my opinion.  i really hope this product works when it needs to.
