Reading How not to be Wrong.....I'll likely get lost in it at some point...so far very cool.

At least finish the elections part. Depressing. An election that reflects the will of the electorate is probably impossible. The people calling for the elimination of the electoral college are so far off the mark they aren't even wrong.

Everything ever written on one web site. More importantly, everything that WILL be written in the future is already there. And everything that has been said and will be said.

I'm currently reading "Sapiens" A Brief History of Humankind, by Yuval Noah Harari. A fascinating overview of the history of our species, written in a style that is accessible to the average reader. Recommended.

"Everybody Behaves Badly" by Leslie M. M. Blume is one of the better books I've read lately. It is Blume's version of Hemingway writing "The Sun Also Rises.

Hmm. Amazon informs me that I bought that back in 2015. I don't remember it. I'll have to circle back. the good part of my horrid memory is that I can read things over again and enjoy them just as much.

My dad used to buy used books at the bookstore, then bring them home and find his own name in them.

It reminds me of what Bill Bowerman (Oregon track coach) said:  “Hey, Alzheimer’s isn’t so bad.  You meet new friends everyday.”

Just finished " Barbarian Days ". Kinda freaked me out, I grew up in same neighborhood,  went to same elementary,  junior and high-school.  The English teacher he loved, I hated.
Captured the  irresistible desire to get out of the decadent LA. I left, on a different journey,  never went back. Mr. Finnagen is 6rs older than me so we never crossed paths. Great story to read.

Two good reads of real life stories of two unusual undercover / surveillance guys working inside / outside the drug gangs, and domestic and international terrorists and others in the UK in recent times. Really amazing work these people do..

Anybody ever read Angela's Ashes. Damn fine book, although sad as hell. (Has that come up before?) The sequel 'Tis wasn't as good, although the sequel after that, Teacher Man, was really good.

I just finished The Power of the Dog and will soon start  The Cartel both by Don Winslow. Winslow is one of my favorite authors. He's written several good books with the main character being a San Diego surfer private-eye. I.E. Dawn Patrol and Gentlemen's Hour (also good reads).

The Power of the Dog is fiction, but gives a great insight in what is going on inside the Mexican drug cartels and the U.S. and Mexican involvement in the 'drug war'.  I'm looking forward to The Cartel, but i'm just starting How Not to Be Wrong.

Angela's ashes, spellbinding.  Agreed on 'Tis and I'll try Teacher Man
