A WEST Somerset father-of-three has completed a 100-mile charity kayaking challenge.

John Harcombe, 47, of Stogursey, managed to paddle his sea kayak from Boscastle in Cornwall to Watchet over four days.

He managed to raise an impressive £2,000 for charity for his efforts.

He set out to raise money and awareness for Crohn’s Disease, which his 12-year-old son Alex has been diagnosed with.

A homecoming celebration was held for a triumphant John on his return at Pebbles Tavern at 5pm on Saturday.

John managed to paddle for 7-8 hours a day, covering roughly 45 km per day over the four days, wild-camping at night, with little time to enjoy the dramatic natural scenery.
