Howdy.

My wife's birthday is coming up and we usually try and keep our spend on a presents to less than $1k.
She's more of a long nails, mini skirts, fancy shoes and shopping mall person... so this year I figured I'd get her a SUP .

I know 0 about SUP.

Stats:
Weight: ~60kg
Height: 1.70m

She's scared of waves so I'm guessing just flat water.
I'm also guessing she's going to use it just a couple times a year, so maybe an inflatable would be a good option. But then inflatable seems to go against the logic of a surfboard.
Do the ride well? Are they durable?

So stable, easy and it has to look trendy, what do y'all recommend?

Links to nice SUP packages in Aus shops most welcome.

Thanks.

Is the SUP really for her or you? From your description I wonder how excited she will be about a SUP - two times per year...

Inflatables are more forgiving and easier to store away, if that is an issue. And you can easily take it places that could be difficult with a hard board. And while they are not that easy to inflate, they are easier to get in and out of the car.

But a trendy one under $1,000 - I am not sure. I just bought a used one for just under $1000 but it was a good brand.

60kg is pretty light, but you should still get it over 30" wide (maybe >32" wide if she could have balance issues) and >10' long.

It's really for her.
I'm hoping she uses it, but it might only get used 2x a year... could be more if she likes it.
I took her SUP'ing 3 years ago, she was good and liked it... she's asked to go a couple times since, but it's not my thing (back injury).
I think bcos hollywood stars are SUP'ing she thinks it's cool, or women magazines tell her it's cool... who knows.

Anyway I need to get her something... and she almost blew up when I hinted I got her a UBTECH Alpha 2 robot (had to return it).

I'm considering a Red PaddleCo 10'6 but I can't find a decent price over here.

In the UK with 20% VAT it's ~A$1275 full package with paddle
Same package here is ~A$1800

Any other MSL boards any recommendations?

The Red Paddle boards do look pretty good - just expensive... Not sure why they would be more expensive here

But your wife probably would prefer the SUP to the robot and they are great fun (as you might guess from my handle).

I think a better question in the circumstances might be "What board should I get my missus that I can use in between times?"

You want trendy looking? Have a gander at a Sunova Surf. It'll bugger your $1k budget though!

I can't quite make out the make/model.
"Alliance with One SUP" didn't return any relevant results.

I'm in the same boat as the OP.

I am looking for a decent inflatable for the missus (that I can use too, until I decide if I like it enough to buy my own). Only to be used in calm water by her, or maybe on very small wave surf by me. Not looking to go long distance or downwinding or anything too ambitious like that.

She is 55-60kg and I'm 75kg.

Located in Sydney. Any suggestions?

Also, are inflatables safe to use with small dogs (as in might they poke a hole or chew through it?)

TIA!
