Hi there. I'm new to kayak ocean fishing. Live in half moon bay. I have a pro angler 12 I use for flyfishing freshwater, but have wanted to get out on the ocean and get a line in. I've researched rigging, techniques, but really would like someone to go out with to perhaps get me started as well as for safety. I have the stuff (I think) but no experience on the ocean from a kayak.  Great site, forums, articles. Look forward to getting out there some weekend.  Salmon, rockfish, halibut. Anything that bites. Well, most anything. Look forward to meeting some of you someday.

Welcome! Lots of hookups there, just watch. Safety, need pfd and a vhf radio. Pref go in pairs.
You could go in the harbor, out of boat traffic with a sabiki rig and load up on smelt, mackerel,  what ever the flavor is that day.

Fog, as you know there, is no joke. But I would go play in the harbor and stay way away from the boats.  Wait to go out of the jaws until you are paired up.
Live your life, the way you want to be remembered. Don't have any regrets, we only get this one dance to make it count. Start at your eulogy, and work backwards.

Welcome to NCKA!  I teach first timers how to kayak fish out of HMB. Hope to see you there sometime!  It can be challenging to get back into the harbor at times and I've had to tow in a couple of clients in.
