Did it ever really go away?  I know Dungies were open for a while but Rock Crab has been closed all year from what I have read.  I guess there real question is:  will the Dungies have high levels of Demoic Acid again this coming season.

It used to be simple. Only eat bivalves in months with an R in it. Growing up on the coast it was uncommon to even be concerned with crab safety. Now nothing  makes sense.

Domoic Acid never went away.  Razors are still closed and the test numbers are not improving with results north of 200ppm in some cases.  Rock crab are stil closed and the numbers again are still really high. 

I hope we can eat razors again some time in 2017.

Ok, here's the scoop. Yup, it's still there. It's also a fake boogie man. My buddy has been obtaining the rc for the health department. He's been crabbing below pigeon pt. He's been selling these crab all summer long. Same crab that's testing around 200ppm. No one has gotten sick. They called him in to tell him they were going to close the fishery down. He arrived with his lawyer. The lawyer them that their criteria does not meet  accepted scientific standards and they have proof it didn't make people sick. He warned them that if they did close it without acceptable science they would be sued for the value of catch. Dungies and rock.. This sent them in a tail spin. They decided to keep the bullshit advisory but not close the fishery. Same fishery testing 200. Now someone help me here. 200 is a bigger number than 30 right? And 30 is their threshold, but they won't close it at 200.|¿?wtf!!!
