Saw these at bass pro san jose.  Just in case anyone wants to join in who wont have a traditional reel.  They are cheap plastic with finger grooves.

I went to bass pro for line, but they did not have 100lb test.  Biggest cheap roll was 65lb.  Went to fishermans warehouse to get it for 5 cents a yard.

28 days to go!!! you boyz ready for some old school fishing?

Couple of the boyz (Ryan & John) stopped by today to pickup there reels; great talk with you both!

Ryan, we gotta take the jeeps out after the MBF; we'll talk more on the water at ARW!

John,  you gotta get more bow time! Deer Season is just around the corner; the its Pig Time!!!

But first, lets do the handlining like our elders use too!!!

The rest of you guys need to make sure you gear is in order; come get your reels so you can practice with them!

MBF handlining will be here before you know it!

Sounds like a blast.  At Tomales last monday I had a take down and my baitreel was not on freespool but was locked.  My drag was tight and the rod was triple dipping. In my panic I flipped the switch and scored a backlash birdsnest of radical proportions with potential hailbut on. I could feel the headshake and started to untangle the zoo.  No way.....I'm just gonna handline you in.  When I saw color I saw hali colors and was freakin' stoked, then I saw a strange tail.  Was a massive angel shark.  Not mega massive but seemed 15+ lbs easy.  Teeth snappin' at me pliers on hook and released.  This style of fishing has me intrigues me.
“I’m going fishing.”  They said, “we will go with you.”

I'm spooled up now with 100# mono from Mel Cottons.  Just need to add 20# leader and figure out how to use it before the 10th.  See you guys on the water!

What's the time bro

How does 8am sound? High tide is at 8:30:

2016-09-10 Sat  8:34 AM PDT    4.7 feet  High Tide

So we can catch the last of the incoming and fish the outgoing....

Then meet back at the launch around 1pm...

I'll post a pot luck thread for those that want to hang on and Chill afterwards..

Is it simple to handling? Are you launching at the ramp by the school? I finally will be getting weekends off and I've never fished this place so I may join but too late to buy hand line?

Since I wont have time to spool up, I'll be bringing line, how much should I bring?  100yd of 100lb?  should I also bring leader material, like 30lb?

Not to hard to handline, but may get challenging (exciting) depending on the size of the fish!  :smt003

There will be a bunch of us out there, same rigging as regular SF Bay fishing; except not rod (or mechanical reel)  :smt005

I still have 3 or 4 reels still available, check the first post for more info....

That should work out just fine!
