I put in some work today at the preserve.  The area is gorgeous with tons of wildlife, things to look at and plenty of fishie places to fish.

Here is my report. It's my first report, so let me know if I missed anything

The red stars indicate were I hooked up.  I fished the area as numbered, 1-6. 1 indicating the first place I fished and 6, the last.

1. This was my first time fishing the preserve and wasn't too familiar with the area.  This area is super shallow with a ton of bluegill, which would be a blast on the fly rod.

2. I worked this area with a frog, wacky-rig and paddle tail fluke.  The first fish of the day was caught of the wacky and the second was off the fluke. Both fish were dinks

3. (Going west)The tide was going out and my finder was producing a depth of 6-8 feet.  I changed my approach and started to throw spinners and hard swimbaits. Didn't have any luck but they were showing up on the finder. (Going East) The bridged produced a coupld dinks on the fluke. Threw a drop-shot, hard swimbait with no luck. At this time the water was pretty shallow, between 4-6ft

4.  The bridge produced about 8 spots, all dinks.  The drop-shot gave me the best luck along the pilers of the bridge.  The docks looked promising and the finder was showing fish but couldn't get any of them hit.  I though for sure this spot would produce just because of the rocks, the sudden drop offs (3ft to 14ft), and the other structure in the water.  Moving further east didn't produce anything. It looked great, but super shallow and warm! The finder ticked in at 83 degrees.  I took a break under a tree and ate some berries.

5. I fished this area with a fluke, hard swimbait, and a drop-shot.  This stretch of the river had a ton of activity but only yielded only 5 dinks on the fluke.  I would cast super shallow and just before it passed deeper water, I would get a hit.  Fish were jumping everywhere though, they were chasing baitfish about 1 inch in length.

6. Nothing.... not even a minnow breaking the surface.  It looked good but nothing. Here is a pic of the water

The CRP is a great place to paddle and fish. One of my favorite locations.

Thanks for the report.

Thanks for the report.  How was the launch area?  Is there still a lot of that plant cyanith?
Three-fourths of the Earth's surface is water, and one-fourth is land. It is quite clear that the good Lord intended us to spend triple the amount of time fishing as taking care of the lawn.

The launch was pretty thick with vegetation but it really didn't cause any problems.
