I
Its posted on the North side that launching is only allowed at the launch. Pretty lame since there is some great fishing on the north. I cant believe they expect kayakers to paddle across the lake to get there. Also as an FYI for everyone, the new launch time is 7AM. I arrived at 6AM yesterday morning along with several others to see that the hours were changed.

It's only 15-20 min paddle across the lake to the north end. No real issue. 1.75 miles is all it is. There is a lot of good fishing before you go all the way north.

Bummer on the north side launch. I mean I understand, but it'd be cool to put in up there. I'd even go by the launch and get a pass, or not care if they put an iron ranger up there!

The last couple of days the wind has blown from the north down to the launch, so that's been convenient.

Lineside, thanks for the heads up on the launch time.

Thanks for the info!  This is actually where my planned 1st run will be (need a kayak first)

I'm guessing the no put-in on the North road is to boat count and make sure no one is left after dark.  It's a city water supply so, I'm guessing that's why it's more of a deal.

Anyone know the water temp in Summer there?

That's a great spot for a first paddle, except for the 'no water contact' rule. I guess that makes it important to stay in the kayak!  :smt044 :smt044

My fish finder said 76.9 degrees this morning early, and near 80 yesterday on the surface. I don't see how that much surface fluctuation is possible, but maybe that's the difference from the North end to the South end. Ooooor the temperature probe in my transducer is on vacation.

<snip>

LOL I didn't even think of that.  Perhaps Berryessa for self-rescue practice

I remember now. That member's handle is ifishalot. I believe he's a caretaker at Henessy. He probably knows that little lake like the back of his hand.

Yep, Brian is the one I was talking about with all the big fish in there.  \

Rob:  I wish I would've taken a pick of the CL smallie.  He wasn't much to look at and only measured about 13" or so.  I'll make sure to get you a pick if I catch another one up there.  Most of my fishing this time of year is on deep water rock piles so it's bound to happen again!
