Moro Bay State Park is offering a guided kayaking trip on Moro Bay from 2 until 4 p.m. on Saturday. Children ages 12 and under must ride tandem with an adult. Younger than 18 must be accompanied by an adult on the tour, according to Corbin Merriott, assistant park superintendent. The trip depends on weather conditions.

“It is recommended that participants have a small amount of prior kayaking/canoeing experience for the tour,” he said.

Fee includes use of kayak, paddle and life-jacket. Participation is limited so those planning to attend should pre-register by calling 870-463-8555 or stop by the Visitor Center at the State Park, 6071 Arkansas 600, Jersey, to make reservations. Fees are $14 for adults, $7 for children ages 6-12 and there is no fee for children younger than 6.

El Dorado Days 2016 will begin today with activities scheduled through Monday.

Today’s schedule is:

• 10 a.m., “Re-tire or Re-fire” Bible study, South Arkansas Community College library auditorium, 300 S. West Ave. Refreshments will be served.

• 1 until 5 p.m., Happy Hour, the ELKS Lodge, 152 E. 19th (the intersection of Martin Luther King).

• 9 p.m., Meet and Greet, Union County Fairgrounds, DJ Mooney Man.

For Saturday:

• 10 a.m., the Nile and Marzell Smith Museum of African American History (former Carver Elementary School), 700 Columbia, will open for tours.

• 1 until 5 p.m., Happy Hour, ELKS Lodge.

• 9 p.m., Party, Union County Fairgrounds.

On Sunday, a memorial service honoring late Washington High School educators Billie Jean Carter Jones, math instructor, and Artis Brewster, band conductor, will be held at 3 p.m.at St. James Baptist Church, 608 MLK Blvd.

Parties are scheduled for 9 p.m. on Sunday and Monday at the Union County Fairgrounds. Cards and dominos will be available during the farewell party on Monday. The St. Louis neighborhood Family Fun Day is set for 11 a.m. until 5 p.m. on Saturday in the area of Ouachita and Lester. The event will feature free food and cold water and activities for children, including a water slide. Children who plan to play on the water slide should bring their own towels. The fun day is free, and the public is invited to participate. Those who plan to attend are asked to bring their lawn chairs. A no-tolerance policy of drugs, alcohol and violence will be enforced. The Blowout Show-out, a comedy and rap showcase featuring local talent and acts from Houston, is slated for 8 p.m. Saturday on Ouachita Avenue. The event is free and open to the public.
