It seems that the NCKA think tank has gotten very shallow

True.... but what about Stealth kayaks? They look fast. Why aren't they on the list?  :smt003

My co-worker has a Cobra Tourer he got off Craigslist for cheap. It's pretty fast as he can keep up with my Revo16 at a cruising along pace. Has a very nice glide to it.

I have a Native Redfish, I have had it up to 85 MPH on Hwy 152 on the way home from the coast in the back of my truck! Now that's FAST!

I am happy to report that the neighbor I sold my scupper pro dual hatch to has become a sort of a kayak collector and ran out of room for the scupper pro. I am buying it back! Lucky me, I always regretted selling it. I plan on outfitting it with a kill bag and traveling light and lethal on the salt in it!

Is there a reason why you're not considering the ocean kayak sprinter?

The OK Sprinter is 17' and was never marketed as a fishing boat. If you have experience fishing out of this boat, some pictures would be great. I like to see boats from other disciplines used for fishing.

This thread was the first time I recall hearing about the sprinter.....then yesterday I seen this for sale:

Look at that hull width compared to the scupper!

I know its not part of the test......but if you ever get ahold of one of these I'd volunteer to let you tow me around on a set of skis.

..........agarcia is just an ex-kayaker

Also, here's a pic of Ravensblack's new Sprinter ala Matt Bark.

And, how about stealth kayaks? They are not on the list?

Thanks for sending that link Jim. My current storage situation makes keeping the long boats challenging or I might have considered the sprinter.
I found some Aussie based kayak speed testing info from 2005 and they show that the sprinter is faster than the scupper pro (not surprised), but the tests were over distance instead of the explosive sprinting that Im interested in. I also found that a NZlander had used the sprinter for fishing and had enjoyed it. Still, the sprinter was never marketed as a fishing SOT and billed as a fitness boat. That may be why it is DH instead of TW.

The list is " Plastic " kayaks.    Stealth are fiberglass const.       Epic has a new Surf Ski that's rotomolded

Thanks for the assist Baitman, but I think that both Bushy and Archie were commenting in jest, and for that I thank them.  It did help pull me out of my Ellen Ripley moment.
