Bout time we got some serious rain!  Wife called said our lower yard (Flat area below house) is flooded!  It's been raining so hard and steady that I've found water is starting to stand just outside our front door.  Front door is safe, we have a deck and a cement wall 6' out from the door so water won't get to the house, however we have to walk through the stuff to exit property.  Driveway is 3/4" rock and the rocks are in water now!  looks like its time for a small "French" drain type drain system there.
Hopefully the local roads will remain open (No slides) till the break comes.
Also time to put my old weather station so we can monitor the rainfall inches in real time.
our Creek, (Gold Gulch Creek) sounds like a raging river right now!

Just called home & the creek behind our house is flowing heavy right now at about 75% I'd guess.  Another few feet & it will crest, flooding the 100acre property on the other side of the creek.

Lots of the gauges display "highest flow for this day" and the majority show 1969 as the highest flows on record for January 19. But today we've surpassed that peak flow in many cases.
I was on the Big Sur river yesterday and it was flowing @ 250-300cfs. It's around 2500cfs today.
This one above Lake Nacimiento gives a good indication of the amount of rainfall in the Sur wilderness: http://waterdata.usgs.gov/ca/nwis/uv/?site_no=11148900&PARAmeter_cd=00065,00060

a lot of big old logs and branched strainers coming down the mighty San Lorenzo today. I also saw a couple of 55 gallon barrels, some basket & soccer balls, plus a bunch of other debris I couldn't identify.

probably be an exciting float from the Hwy 9/River St intersection to the sea.....if I wanted to contract hepatitis or MRSA  :smt009.

Same by my house. We're by a small creek that flows into Lexington, and the waterfalls are impressive right now...
Please don't spoil my day, I'm miles away...
