I was thinking about getting my first sea kayak. I am small at 5'7" 160 and come from somewhat of a ww background and am looking for something that will be responsive with a cockpit that gives me great control. I also prefer a boat with lots of secondary stability and less primary stability. I have paddled both the boreal designs Inukshuk and muktuk. The Inukshuk it too big for my needs as i don't plan to do any heavy camping. I loved the feel of the muktuk and its responsiveness. ANy idea would be greatly appreciated

Look at the Wilderness Systems Tsunamis. wildernesssystems.com/wilderness-systems...transitional-touring . Also, what specs do you want as far as length, weight, and price? If you need something lightweight, look at a Warren Light Craft. www.warrenlightcraft.com/ . Pelican is making touring kayaks that are less expensive, but I am not sure about the quality of the boat. www.geteliteseries.com/en/products/strait140xe.html

i am looking for something sub 17 ft and since i am mainly going to keep this thing in bays with some chop rather than doing open crossings all that often so would rather trade size for responsiveness/ edging etc. that being said i need something that gives me a chance in 2-3 foot chop so long as i am careful. I am willing to pay for polyethelene but cannot afford anything else. i dont need something beefy and would rather keep things on the lighter side. i hope this makes some sense.
thanks,

based on your description, you might want to try a long surf kayak. Also, look at the Prijon WW Combi 359 or the Remix XP10. here is a link to REI's site with a Tsunami 170: www.rei.com/product/735401?cm_mmc=cse_fr...3EB&mr:referralID=NA
here is a link to Prijon's site: www.wildnet.com/
