I am researching kids and whitewater and would like to hear from some experienced
whitewater boaters who are solid Class V boaters. I am seeking opinions on what
age is the appropriate age for running Class V and why you think what you do.

FYI: I am 11 and I run Class V.

Thanks!

As far as i am concerned if you are good enough then you are old enough.

I would still expect parents permission for anyone in the group under the age of 18 and prefer anyone under 16 to be acompanied by their parents.

Agree with above, if you're good enough and have the desire, you can. Of course the definition of class V is subjective anyway, and it's a grading system which is pretty crap in my opinion. But that's another discussion

Its not about age its about ability. If both you and your parents think you can handle it then you should be good to go! Just ensure all safety precautions are taken, people with throwlines are there and youve scoped the river beforehand. Also...where a helmet
