we at the yacht club in Varkiza Bay GREECE, just hosted the first ever in Greece SeaKayak race, and plan to host many more of the kind. We are open every day and would love to be a gathering point for seakayakers willing to race but also train, relax and have loads of sea fun. We have everything a kayaker needs, even a few sitontops for rental for those who wish to try it out or have left their ... babies behind. We organise trips every now and then - just pop down and meet us, I am the club secretary and you can see my facebook (Jonathan Constantine) or check out the club site www.naovv.gr and call at the phones listed there for details.

Hi Jonathan
I am level 4 seakayaker living on west coast of Ireland and would love to do some kayaking in Varkiza. Could you rent me a sea kayak ang gear or recommend some place where I can rent.
Many thanks

Colm

if you are a bona fide sea kayak athlete you are welcome to the use of one of our surfskis at no charge, provided you use them with caution and close to our premises (within the greater Varkiza bay area - you can easily get 2 hour runs in our bay) and provided you have a reasonable security deposit available and necessary identification as well as your credentials or BCU membership ID card. There are suitable accomodation facilities nearby, but I would also advise that you look at sites which offer guided tours in the Ionian Sea and at the island of Milos try "Ionian Sea kayaks" and "milos kayaking" you will get many results. Our club is situated very close to Athens airport - about 15 minutes by car. Have a happy holiday!

I am the club secretary for the Varkiza bay sailing and kayak club situated in Athens Greece. After hosting the first ever surfski and ocean seakayak in Greece in june and the second in September, we are thinking of hosting an international race next year. We have direct access to the beach, excellent facilities and we have hosted major international sailing events over the years (windsurfing world cup, optimist paneuropean champs, ect). I am currently "testing the waters" on interest for a race in July to September 2012. The race will be held with the highest safety standards, including numerous RIB support - safety - recovery boats, and will have several categories with distances from sprints to 30- 40 mile marathons over open water. Several factories have already expressed interest in the race, we will probably know for sure which teams will compete by September, after the Kanumsee show.

Its November 19 and we are still running great, with warm seas in Varkiza bay. Super runs, all kayakers still in the greater Athens area are welcome to train with us. No experience or equipment necessary, just call my cell phone 6977-190292 or the NAOVV.gr club for info and you can join the team. Jonathan, Club Secretary and Kayak comissar.
