Hi!

I want to buy a Nomad.

I am really confused with the size, since I am 70kg/154pounds (good enough for 8.1, I think), but I am 185cm/6' , and maybe I need a longer boat and I am still in the weight range for 8.5.

I have tried only the 8.1, and I liked it a lot, but it won't be easy now to demo a 8.5 where I am living...

I know is an old dilemma, I know is an old boat, but I will appreciate your suggestions...

My main question is: how important is the height of the paddler in relation to the lenght /volume of the boat? Should I think more of the weight?

Thanks!!!

If you can fit in, then that's cool :-) Size of boat is a personal preference. I've never paddled the Nomad, but I'm pretty sure you could paddle both. Some people like smaller, shorter boats, others like longer/bigger. Personal preference. If you're planning a lot of overnight trips then perhaps think of the larger one... I would go for the 8.5, but that's me.

Thank you Adrian for the wise words :)

I think I will go for the big one, since with my height I should manage to move it around the river, and I won't be worried about overloading the boat with material...
Also I am sure that being lil tall i will appreciate a bit of width...
On the other hand I am sure I will have to paddle hard with that boat....

And thank you again for ur hints regarding the Element ( i wrote u a mail some time back). I am able to roll it nicely now, and I am having a lot of fun with it!!! (and no pain in my shoulders)

cheers,

jacopo

That's great to hear!!! If you find a victim to stand on the beach to take some photos of you, post them onto Playak :) Glad you're enjoying the Element

Nice one Jacopo! That's a really sweet spot there, and with warm water  Looks like you've got it waxed! Keep up the good work and keep up the victim hunt! :skull: I've got a 500mm lens now but no victims to get the shots  Hopefully sometime soon.. Have a super weekend still.

Cheers,
Adrian
