Are Packrafts ready for big water? Alpacka is coming out with an inflatable kayak built for whitewater. 12lbs, easily fits in a backpack, and can be rolled. What is this going to do to the sport and is it a good idea?

Video shows the boat running some big stuff in New Zealand.

Thoughts?

The video is definitely a good promo for that brand :) - Like.

Looks like fun. Roman has been pushing the sport for many years as well through his very entertaining blog:

packrafting.blogspot.com

If there were enough people who need such adrenaline levels, there would be a lot of potential, as the boats seem fit for the task. But honestly, I think it will stay a niche. Definitely a nice niche to follow though...
