Erm, I dunno but have you ever heard of the term "pollution"? I know you're trying to sound cool but you are in fact wasting materials people could actually put to good use and which do not grow on trees.

Don't get me wrong, it is perfectly fine to mess around with resin and fabrics but why don't you learn how to properly do this sort of thing first? Learn about working with resin and fabrics, how they actually work etc.

Granted, it is my own opinion but I think paddlers should set an example by being responsible and not wasting stuff. Because this way, in the end you will have a lousy paddle that is probably unsafe to use on a river (and you will probably not use it).

If you learn how to work with resin etc. it is a lot more fun and you can actually make/fix/modify gear to suit your personal needs. I myself am a gear tinkerer but I try to keep loss of materials to a minimum by using the appropriate materials for what I am trying to do. And if it is better/easier/cheaper to buy parts I do just that.

But then again, I am not very cool and just an old fart who has been paddling for most of his life :-))

Hi fellow paddlers, please help find stolen boats!
There was a large robbery in Czech Rafting company "Adrenaline Centre" in the town Veltrusy. Large quantities of rafting gear were stolen. Mainly rafts "Robfin 400 a 420" and "Yukon" inflatable canoes. The rafts were marked with names of famous rivers (e.g. Zambezi, Ganga, Brahmaputra, Karnali, Colorado). Neoprene wetsuits and life jackets marked "AC Adrenaline Centre" were stolen too. Chances are, the thieves will want to sell it abroad as the news is all over Czech republic.
Please spread the word and don't let them get away with it.
Thank you very much

I have the same problem I get wet.
I have a frend who has mastered it.
He tells me the trick is to commit to the move and snap the boat over you.
If you look at the video he starts slow but moves fast once his blade hits the water.
I'll add it to my list of things to work on and let you know what happens.

i know somone who has one, he loves the hull design, but the footrest broke without to much effort apparently the problem is not just a manufacturing fault, it is some sort of shock absorbing system that is supposed to give way instead of you ankles, but it breaks too easily

i am 6'2''/180cm? The races are for the joy of finishing mainly with a hint of competitiveness thrown in!
3/4 big races per season over 15 to 20 miles sea kayaking ignoring whitewater.

I try to paddle 3 times a week but this drops off considerably during the winter. I have never done the touring bit but have the idea of getting out on longer trips in the future - some follow "Vet" local paddlers are on for the challenge. Overall I would be on the river far more than on the sea although I would like to change this. Both are very accessable to me so I hasve no excuse!

Regarding stability, I am interested in open water and therefore would be interested in overall stability rather than just initial stability - the boat i used most from the club is the dagger cortez which would have a narrow enough width and a fairly rounded hull - at least from my limited experience.

I would feel that I am an "improver"/intermediate in the sea kayaking learning curve cycle, if there is such a thing, and quite content to be enjoying being on the water with limited ambitions other than that.

owned it for 2 years and used to paddle thames wiers a bit in it, other than that i've used it a few times at HPP and a few in north wales on the likes of the Twyrin or however you spell it! Not paddling much at all now and have access to RAF playboats so decided to sell on.

The thigh supports on Neckys are notorius for bending so I have modified them by bonding a few layers of carbon fiber over them so these will never ever bend out of shape again again (and look quite posh!). Boat is in good condition, usual hull scratches but no bad ones or dents. Comes with 2 rear airbags and a jackson foot airbag.

Great boat for surf and play. Increased volume in the bow for big Air moves, swallow tail for carving, excellent rail to rail transition. Length 1.8m, width 62cm, weight 15kg, recommended paddler size 67-86kg. It is the lime green version.

Boat is located near basingstoke in hampshire (RG29) but could possibly meet locally. For pics/info please email me at bonesy@live.co.uk or call 07872532727

Take a look at www.cboats.net and see what is done in c-boats on white water ;)

With the same objectivas as American Whitewater Organization, we can build a European Association. Our rivers need it. I think.

calling something a "Playboat" is no excuse for it to be unsafe.

That's your opinion. I don't think it's unsafe for playboating. I have felt a small amount of flex on my feet when I've hit bottom before. I've felt the same in Riot and Dagger playboats. I had a look at a Fluid Nemesis recently, I didn't fit in it but it looked solid as a rock. I think if you try and push any playboat further than what it's designed for it becomes unsafe pretty quickly. Simply because you have limited volume and you don't have proper protection for your feet in case you hit rocks.

Jackson claim to use 'superior' plastics which make their boats stronger. That's what the marketing says. Realistically it's more like they use less of their good plastic to make their boats as strong as other companies playboats. So they're no stronger, but they may be lighter. A good playboat needs to be light, from what I've seen most company's use less plastic in their playboats then their creekers to cut down on weight.

So, is the thin plastic normal? Yes. I prefer the actual metal beam and the hard plastic uprights in the jacksons compared to just foam pillars.

But at the end of the day if you actually believed you were paddling something that was unsafe, get rid of it as soon as possible, no matter what anyone else says.

I have the IR Comp cag/drytop and the Extrasport X-treme trousers/drypants, and when I jumped in water around 40 degrees with an air temp of 55, I was fine. All of the gear I was wearing was a rashguard, NRS Mystery short-sleeve shirt, IR Comp, bathing suit, drypants, and hydroskin socks, which I stretched over the neoprene ankle gasket to make it a drier seal. I could feel the cold water against the pants, but I also had no insulation on my legs. Both are the Entrant fabric, but my main factor for getting them was that they were under $150 total (cag and trousers).

You should definately try to sell it because you are already 50lbs over the maximum recommended weight.
The USNWC has a challenge course, a private 37-acre island, the whitewater course which I believe is the only multi-channel whitewater course in the world (class III channel and class III/IV channel, as well as some channels leading into it that can be used for instruction), and several trails. I think that they have around 400 acres, and also have a few conference rooms, a restaurant, an outfitter's store, a large selection of demo boats, and is the training facility for several international slalom athletes. Since it is at least 2 hours to any other decent whitewater from Charlotte, it is a great facility, and you don't have to worry about shuttle, river hazards, water levels (you can call the store, and the water is normally consistent), etc. which also makes it one of the ideal spots to demo boats, because the water level doesn't change much during the day, unless the staff is trying to work on it. The eddies are terrible, but it also makes you that much better at catching eddies, and they put in rock climbing grips so you don't swirl around in the eddy.

The Penrith cost is closer to a whitewater course by itself, but the USNWC has so much more to offer than just whitewater. If you check out their Allsport pass on their site, you can see just how much they have (WW kayaking isn't on the allsport pass, but it is $20 for a day pass fyi).

Maybe this will work. Instead of thinking that you want to push your legs away, maybe think that from tucking right forward, you want to lean back as quickly and as far back as possible straight afterwards. This will obviously do the job but it's mentally a different angle to attack the same problem :)

Because they are cheap. If they have a 90 feather on them then no need for seperate left and right handed paddles. I'm not saying any of this is a good thing (it's not) just why it gets done by some outfitters who are perhaps more interested in throughput of people than in a good solid introduction to the sport.

Checkon the pics the chap sent you of the dents/patches. If there is any discolorationof the plastic in the affected areas I would not go for the kayak as those are from hard impacts.
If you do decide to take it and need some advice on how to get your flatness back letr me know.

I made this (Windows) screensaver back in 2000, and hadn't even looked at it since, but since I got bored with my 'old' screensaver, I thought I'd install the Playak software again. Turned out it wasn't even downloadable anymore after a couple of system migrations...

Well, I fixed all that now and thought some of you might like to give it a try as well. I'll probably make a new version soon with some even better photos, but in the meantime, enjoy this one:

I just tried a Shooting Star and loved it! However I felt like I was almost too big for it at times. I'm about 110 and 5 feet. I'm used to slightly longer boats, but this boat was so much fun!! I've had so much trouble finding a boat that was short and low volume for me. It was so easy to throw a stern squirt in even on flat water. You should also look at the Fun series by Jackson. the Fun 1.5 is 35 gallons (The Shooting Star is 31). This might be helpful:

Go go go go go go !

Its a great place, great river, great people, great food. top european paddling destination.

To be honest in 4 days I was pretty much done on the river and you can paddle top to bottom in a day but for the less able people in the group it offered everything from grade 2 - 4 plenty to practice on and the watar colour is amazing.

Very glad i went, great pizza, great ice cream.

Ola.
Riot air is a good kayak especially on waves. It was designed more with wave play in mind rather than in a hole.
If you have access to waves or breaking waves I would say give the air a chance and a half.
Being in the lower end of the weight range = more retentive in holes, rails higher out the water so less chance of catching edges but also means that you will have to edge harder for serious carve and release effect, slightly more difficult to get moves done on flatwater. The other great advantage of being in the lower end of the weight range is that it will force you to get your technique down properly as you will be less able to muscle out moves.

If you do not get joy from it after several sessions then try and sell. Good playboats to try out Fluid Nemesis and Riot Astro, the blisststick smoothy also looks sweet but I have not paddled one yet.
