Ljubljana, Sava river, Vizmarje-Brod slalom course

Playspot: Slovenia, Ljubljana, Sava river, Vizmarje-Brod slalom course

What's it like

The Vizmarje-Brod slalom course is located in a suburb of Ljubljana (Capital of Slovenia). There are four playspots on the course.

The first one is fast and 2 meters wide, but the water is shallow so that you can do only flat spins. The second one is a very powerful hole, 8 meters wide. Here you can do flat spins, cartweels (not very vertical - you will hit the bottom) and left blunts. The third hole is the best one. It is a little sharp form, and you can do almost all new and old tricks (loops, splitwheels,...). The last one is very similar to the second hole.

The course will have enough water when the gate is open, which is usually twice a day (and after rain). September is normally good all month.

How to get there

Coming from the North (Villach, Munich,...) through the Karawankentunnel follow the A2 'Ljubljna' for 60 kms. After crossing the river Sava, take the exit 'Brod' and turn right.

Coming from the West (Italy) when you come in Slovenia follow the A4 for 90 kms (follow the signs 'Ljubljna, Kranj'). Once in Ljubljana, take the exit for Austria - Kranj, and at the traffic lights turn left. Then go straight for about 6 kms. When you come to the crossroads and see the sign for 'Ausria, Kranj' to the right, just go straight and turn right at the next traffic lights (on the left side there is an OMV gas station). At the next traffic lights turn left.

OK, no matter where you came from, if you followed the instructions above, the next thing to do is: Go straight for about 800 meters (cross 2 traffic lights) and at the last crossroads before the bridge turn left. After 300 meters turn right into the parking (there is a rafting firm and a 'Kajak Kanu Club').
