Dagger Sponsorships for 2012:

Events:
• Teva Mountain Games (May 31 – June 3, 2012). Always the Teva Mountain Games staple, this year Dagger will sponsor the Steep Creek Race and provide boats for the Thule Stash and Dash Challege, as well as donate boat prizes for both the men’s and women’s mountain biking events. Dagger will also have a booth in Gear Town, so be sure to stop by. The Teva Mountain Games, held in Vail, Colo., are the nation’s largest celebration of adventure sports, art, and mountain culture.

• Red Bull Inga Project: Dagger athletes Rush Sturges and Tyler Bradt were part of the trio that completed the first descent of the world-class Inga Rapids on the Congo River in Africa last year. Now the Red Bull Media powerhouse is set to make this incredible expedition into their next action sports film. Set to premiere in June 2012, Dagger is on board to support their athletes by sponsoring the film production as they prepare to share this feat with the world.

• Tallulah Fest (April 14-15, 2012). Held in Tallulah Falls, Ga., this river festival celebrates the release of the Tallulah Gorge with paddling, live music, films and prizes, including a Dagger Mamba 8.1. All money goes to American Whitewater.

• NOC Freestyle Shootout (April 20-22, 2012). Dagger will be on-hand for the first-ever official freestyle event at the newly enhanced Nantahala Wave that was designed for the 2013 ICF Canoe Freestyle World Championships. To support the event, Dagger will sponsor the halftime show, the Dagger Dash. The winner will receive a Green Boat. Dagger will also have a demo booth available for those who want to try out our boats, so be sure to come by and check us out.

• King of New York. This race series lives to seek out and crown the best paddler in New York state. Throughout the paddling season, competitors rack up points in a set of down-river races, with a winner named at the Moose River Festival in October. To show their Big Apple support, Dagger is donating a Green Boat to the winner.

Organizations:
• American Whitewater. Dagger is a “Class III” Level Sponsor and showing their support for the nonprofit by donating boats to American Whitewater fundraising initiatives that conserve our country’s rivers and promote access for the people who love them. Be sure to check out the Dagger booth at Gauley Fest (September 14-16, 2012, in Summersville, W.Va.).

• First Descents. Dagger is providing boats and pro-deal options to this incredible non-profit that strives to improve the lives of young adults with cancer through whitewater paddling and other outdoor adventures. Help support the mission (and possibly win a Dagger kayak) by attending one of First Descents’ annual fundraising events.

• Team River Runner. Team River Runner (TRR), founded in 2004, works to provide healing to veterans and active duty personnel who have been injured while serving our country. Dagger supports our troops and TRR’s efforts and has engaged in a three-year partnership to provide boats to those in the program and booth-sharing opportunities to help promote awareness for the organization at several major festivals.

• Girls at Play. Founded by Team Dagger athlete Anna Levesque, Girls at Play encourages women of all ages to get out on the water. Through kayaking, yoga and camaraderie, Girls at Play strives to inspire women and enhance their lives by making these sports feel accessible, fun, and adventurous. In addition to supporting this organization, AT will donate paddles to be used by participants.

• River Roots. Award-winning film maker and Team Dagger athlete Rush Sturges is known for creating exciting films for the kayaking world with his company River Roots, and in 2012 Dagger is committed to continuing to support film production for his new online series that will document a variety of incredible paddling adventures all over the world.

• Andy Maser Films. Andy Maser Films is owned by Team Dagger athlete and renowned filmmaker, Andy Maser, and again this year Dagger will support film production. This year’s project will document the amazing story of Greg Mallory, who was paralyzed from the waist down in a skiing accident. Inspiring the paddling world by competing in the Paralympics and paddling Class V whitewater, Mallory has illustrated the importance of community, strength and determination for all to see.

No conversation of Dagger would be complete with a mention of Team Dagger. Our brand’s boats are “team approved,” which means our athletes are at the core of the inspiration and guidance for creating the boats our customers have come to rely on for innovation on the water. Team Dagger stokes the fire behind our brand with their passion for and dedication to moving-water adventure, sense of altruism and commitment to the paddling community, and they remain a crucial part of the Dagger success, both on and off the water.
