Description

On a low Orange River, one rapid that gave us a rev was Big Bunny. Karen and Natacha jumped on the load oarboat for a ride with Graeme rowing. It was a highlight of a trip that produced great scenery and great jokes in great company (trainees and hangers-on) but didn't offer much in the way of adrenaline. This year we had about 55cumecs. Last year, same time, it was around 500-700! So it goes. But whatever the level, the Orange River Gorge near Onseepkans in the Northern Cape is always spectacularly beautiful - a moonscape of bare granite with the mighty river running through it. Every day the river threw a new set of challenges for the training group. Big Bunny got its name from a German visitor who kept asking when we would reach the "Big Rabbit"... Join us for a trip!
