Pirates Canoe Club Trip to the National Water Sports Centre at Holme Pierrepont in Nottingham on the 2nd & 3rd of July 2011. Weekend Coach was Barry from Desperate Measures in Nottingham - Cheers! Visiting Paddlers were: George, Lucy, Tim & Mark As well as paddling our own kayaks, Barry brought along a few demo boats from the Desperate Measures Kayak & Equipment shop (situated only a few minutes from HPP) and you will see Lucy, George and Mark try out Wavesport Diesel's and Lucy then Mark take the front seat of the Jackson Duo for a dunking session courtesy of Barry in the back.... After a 5am get up, we pitched tents and headed out for a welcome dinner at a local restaurant...a few drinks later and we headed back to our campsite at midnight for a well earned sleep...Lucy was on nightwatch duties.... Day 2 - rested but starting to feel muscles working hard again as we practised our skills learnt the previous day, how to run the river, stop and watch how the features and water flowed....swapped kayaks and ventured into the Muncher, Tardis and Washing Machine.... HPP is one of the few places in the UK where you will paddle alongside World Champion Paddlers and take turns at features with competition winners and Team GB paddlers of all disciplines.... After lunch we changed, refuelled at the HPP food bar and headed back home to Kent.... We all had a fantastic weekend, great water, dry sunny days, great food and company... thankyou to George for organising the Pirates Trip ...
