Craig Atkinson, best man to Nick Andrews, organised a bachelor party in the form of whitewater rafting on the Vaal followed by some polite beer drinking and a braai. The river turned out to be horribly low, the weather (which had been forecast rainy and cold) was hot, and before we even hit the river half the party had dropped out pleading injury, fishing, sore heads and no particular excuse. Five made it to the river but they thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Despite the low level the rapids were fun and the day glorious. It ended with catering by Otters' Haunt on the lawns, and this video was shown to great applause. As a send-off, both Craig and a partner, and Nick and his wife-to-be were offered credits towards a future trip when the river is HIGH.
