The "Battle of the Susitna" explores one of Alaska's premiere whitewater runs, Devil's Canyon of the Susitna. As over 20,000cfs of water rushes through the canyon, huge waves, holes and massive whirlpools form some of the best late summer kayaking in the far north. Explore the Susitna with Todd and Brendan Wells along with Santiago Ibañez and local Matt Peters from their journey into the Susitna via float plane, to battling the massive rapids of Devil's Canyon. After battling the whitewater, the team learned more about another battle going on over the Susitna, a proposed dam that would be the second tallest constructed in North America. The dam would not only devastate the incredible whitewater and other recreational activities, but have irreversible impacts on local communities and disrupt one of the greatest salmon-bearing rivers in Alaska. Stay tuned for an amazing adventure and learn more about the proposed dam from Rick Leo, the former president of the Susitna River Coalition.
