Quebec is known for its massive spring floods that cause waves like Gladiator, the Ruins, and Detonator to form on swollen rivers across the province. This so called phenomena has been termed "stakeout" by Tribe Alliance in order to describe the ensuing chase for big water and has provided the inspiration for events such as the Whitewater Grand Prix. However, there is more to Quebec freestyle kayaking than just spring floods. Montréal has some of the best playboating waves 10 minutes from the heart of the city that normally run most of the summer. Places like Habitat 67 and Lachine Rapids offer amazing potential for the progression of the sport. In addition, there is a certain lifestyle associated with living in the big city meanwhile getting to enjoy some of the world’s most spectacular whitewater. Warm water, sunny days, and awesome waves easily make Montréeal one of the top paddling destinations for any freestyle boater.
