Punto de Lobos is one of the premier surf breaks in Chile, and when the juice comes, it’s a long left with fast and tight bowl sections. This year, Punta de Lobos was the site for the Association of Professional Towsurfers, Inc (APT) sanctioned event, the Punta de Lobos, Pichilemu Chile World Cup Tow-In Surfing Championship.

After a long, dry October, fall boating season finally got under way with some good November rains. I’m always a little anxious in the fall because I never know when snow is going to block access to the high elevation runs. Since most of the exploratory and obscure stuff I like is at higher elevations, it is always a bit of a rush to try and prioritize which run to do and whether there will be enough water.

Central Otago kayakers dominated the event, showing that kayaking is as strong as ever in south. Young paddlers Finn Butcher and Max Rayner performed well in both the Under 15 Mens freestyle and Slalom with Finn winning both of these divisions. While Dunstan High school student and NZ Junior Slalom squad member Nick Henderson won the Under 19 Mens Slalom.
