Hey,

Alex recently asked me for some details about building a ramp.

So I posted a simple drawing and sone pics in my gallery.

I did this on a budget and it works really well.

If you have any questions about building this stuff or you encounter some specific problems in your own let me know.
I like working out problems and it is really satisfying to projects come together.
Especially paddling stuff.

FYI: My son and I screwed around with boards and built a small (very small) vawe at the inlaws this year in their streat. It set up a great eddyline for doin small moves. Next year in the spring run off we will try again and make it bigger and better. (Used old plywood, posts and lots of rope to adjust the boards)

looks good. Is that lake( or river) on your [property or did you get permission to build it somewhere. Also, about the wave, you meant stream right, not street? Im not trying to be critical, just make sure i understand the last part.

That is a small river in front of my home. (Raisin River, Williamstown, Ontario)
When the water is high (early march or massive rain falls) we even get a surf wave about a km from my place....

And uhhh, yup I meant stream.
Hard to do more than one thing at a time.
Sorry about the crappy spelling.

we were talking about building one at a flatwater place my club goes but i reckon we'd need planning permission or make it so it could be taken down and stored someplace. but it would be cool cos flatwater sucks :(

Hey Y'all,

Long time no chat!

The water level below our ramp varies a whole lot depending on season.

You don't need that much water. 6 feet is more than enough.
That is what I get in the spring. I have landed nose first, a** backwards, upside down (splat... owww.. not recommended but part of the learning curve for donkey flips) and never had bad encounters with the bottom.

When the level goes down to 3 feet then the inverts are done until it comes up above 4.

Having said that: the deeper the water the better.

Ours is a simple ramp but it works. I want to make it a bit steeper next year though..
