Hi,
I sadly report that a municipal law will ban forever any private boat from the most canals in Venice city center, excluding gondolas. The reason is apparently the heavy traffic, but please note that any engine propelled taxi and ferry is allowed, private engine boats, and even 100.000 tons cruiseships.
We believe that kayaks an canoes, being only a risible percentage of the traffic, and being absolutely enviromentally friendly boats do not deserve to be banned. By the way the allowed boats and ships, producing waves, are responible for the heavy damages to Venice's historic buidings.
Please signe the petition on change.org:
www.change.org/p/al-comune-di-venezia-re...hare_petition-no_msg

The ban will start from march, 1st, so we are preparing for the last paddle day in Venice by february, 28th (saturday),
All paddlers are invited, informations soon.
Davide
