Hi, I am a third year Student at the University of Cumbria in the UK looking into 'Why does Adventure need Media?'. Having walked a couple of lake district fells on day I couldn't help but notice that each group that summited (myself included) would almost immediately reach for the camera and start firing away snaps. I rarely get into my boat without having an camera of some form with me and know of very few groups who don't have at least one amongst them. This brought questions to mind of both the advantages and disadvantages of having such media saturation in our lives on the river and as an adventure industry as a whole?

I have a survey at the following address that i would love if you could fill out and or discuss the topic in general in the forum below.

I'd be interested to hear below any further thoughts you have on how the adventure industry got to be so intertwined with media.

I'll be posting some of the topics that people come up with here in a week if anyone wants to expand on one of them.

Sim.
