At 189 lbs (86 Kilos), wich one of this 2 boats you think it will be easier to start learning the first playboat moves?

And for the ocean surf?

thanks

hey,

The Transformer is probably an easier boat to start with... for the first hour.

Its rounded edges and pronunced rocker make it a bit more forgiving, but also very slow. This boat is good at holeriding, but if you want to go surfing, especially in the ocean, forget about the Transformer and go for an Air or even a Turbo...

At 89kg, you should consider the Air 60, you might be a bit heavy for an Air 55, but then it depends on your own preferences, if you want to be able to throw the boat around very easily or keep some volume and be more retentive on waves !

Hope that helps,
David

in the surf you want speed. so make sure your boat will carry your weight properly. if you have to chose between to siezes take the bigger option, i think. the air should work i think. but i haven't paddled is so i am not sure. but david sounds like he hits the right points. but you can look also in the surf for longer boats. hard rails will help in the surf, but is a bit tricky in the beginning.

have fun out there

However, please try any boat before you buy. I have a Tekno that I am very happy about and so is a paddling pal of mine. When he had the opportunity to buy himself a (like new, old demo model) Tekno for cheaps (500 euros) he did so, only to find out that the rocker of his boat differed lots from my boat. In fact, the boat behaved like a completely differen design (and not as good as mine).

I weigh sleightly less than you (82 kilo's) and would like to recommend you measure the rocker of any Tekno that is offered first. My boat has a 19.5 centimeter front rocker and 14.5 centimeter tail rocker (I measure the rocker as the distance between the floor and the tip, not sure if this is correct but it is the easiest way to do for an amateur ;-) ). My mate's Tekno (which he returned) had a front rocker of 17.5 centimeter and tail rocker of 12.5 centimeter.
