The dream of Puesco Fest began with a mug of tea by the fire in April of 2014. Word began to spread. His dream: to grow the river family on the dam-threatened Rio Trancura in Puesco, Curarrehue, Chile. And the hope: to save the river. Over the next three years, the crowds grew. But at the heart of all the celebrations and live music and paddling, Puesco Fest is still about saving rivers. And it has worked: as of this spring, plans for the three hydro projects in the Trancura-Puesco drainage have been terminated. The fourth annual Puesco Fest kicks off next week.
