Feb 28 Social Instagram Silently gliding our kayaks through the various meandering channels in the Glenmore marshlands brings about a sense of solitude and peacefulness. This is a place where many shades of greens create a lovely mosaic of texture and shape. Our visual senses are delighted by the perfect upright stance of uniform fields of marsh grasses. The shrubs find the middle ground building their own bushy enclaves just beyond the waterline. Then on the hillside slopes the sharp triangular edges of dark green pine trees profile themselves as the rugged exterior protecting the delicate ecosystem below. I always feel good when I am enshrouded by such beauty. Nature has a way of talking back, giving us a sense of placement and belonging. Feb 20 Social Instagram A peaceful late evening paddle on Vermillion lakes in Banff National Park. The headlight and outline of a CP Rail locomotive can be noticed just above the elevated paddle. The sound of rain drops melodiously falling into the calm water is interrupted by the on coming rumble of the train. A few minutes later solitude returns. We paddle on as the evening light wanes.
