Grenoble, River Isere, Goncelin

Playspot: France, East, Grenoble, River Isere, Goncelin.

What's it like

A partly breaking wave, about 100 meters wide. The easiest place to play is on river right (large eddy, green wave). More towards the middle, the wave starts breaking. Better for horizontal than vertical figures, as the river is quite shallow.

Best times: March to August and after rainfalls; evenings and weekdays are even better. You don't want too much water here though, as this will flatten out the wave.

How to get there

Coming from Grenoble, follow directions Chambéry on the A41 and take the exit 23 to Touvet. After having paid for this freeway at the 'peage', take the D29 to Goncelin. After crossing the freeway bridge, turn right just before the bridge over the Isere. Some 500 meters upstream from here, you'll find the Goncelin wave.
