The Nottingham slalom course is an artificial course made of concrete and uses the water of the river Trent. The whole course is just great for playing. The main features are:

  1. The top wave. A nice breaking wave perfect for endless spins. The good paddlers manage to blunt and get some ends as well ... No eddy here, the wave is between two concrete walls so you have to walk upstream if washed out !
  2. A nice eddy line perfect for stern dips and eddy line cartwheels.
  3. A nice little stopper. Looks small but is retentive enough to throw around and spin. You can wave wheel easily into it !
  4. A series of green waves. Good for carving ... Some [very good] paddlers manage to spin as well !
  5. Pyramid wave and Pyramid rock. The wave is a fast, almost green wave. Hard for short boats but very nice in a fast boat like the Glide. The rock is perfect for rocksplats and rockwheels ... but you have to ferry glide onto the wave to reach it ...
  6. The "looping pool", a fast not very steep wave with a strong eddy line. Stern squirting in the whirlpools is very fun !
  7. The "Muncher", THE stopper on the course. Any move is possible here. The eddy is not easy to reach when washed out but it is possible to paddle upstream easily and come back to the stopper.

And you can also find lots of other places to throw around, splat, stern squirt ... The only drawback, but a bit scary, is the water quality. You wouldn't be the first to get sick of it but on the other hand, some people never got sick ... Some more info about this problem is available here.
