York PA, Susquehanna River, Route 30 Bridge Park and Play

Playaspot: York PA, Susquehanna River, Route 30 Bridge Park and Play.

What's it like

This playspot is a wave/hole.  The great thing about it is that when everything is dry, this is when it shows its face.

The wave is roughly 37-38 inches high by about 7 feet wide.  It's a little steep but perfect for blunts and loops.  It's very easy to get into, it's a little pushy but won't push you out.  Make sure you scout for strainers, because as said the water levels are low when this wave appears, so logs tend to show their face as well.

It's perfect speed again to practive your surfing, blunts and loops.

How to get there

This spot is located right outside of York Pennsylvania.  From I-83 youll take 30 east.  You will continue on this route till you cross over the parallel bridges that cross the Susquehannock river.  Once you cross you take the first exit you get.  I believe it is called Marryettaville.  From there make a right at the stop sign coming off the exit.  Next light make a left. Now you are driving parallel with the river, go 4 lights down and make a right, cross over the train tracks and pull into the park.

Here is the put in and the boat launch. Paddle up river making sure to stay river left.  It's about a 1/4 mile paddle up river till you will see any white water.  You'll go under the first bridge allmost immediately and then the second bridge you cross under is pretty much the "park and play".

The wave/hole is all the way river left.

Be sure you scout the area, this river is known for limestone build up on the floor and can be very sharp. I have yet to experience any of it but I'm told it's there.

Locals

Make sure you do lock your car.  Even though it's a park and play the area is a little shady.  Again I have not had any problems but I allways take precaution.
