River Rhone, Saint Pierre deBoeuf
Artificial whitewater course: France, East, River Rhone, Saint Pierre de Boeuf.
What's it like
A commercial slalom area (prices, conditions and opening hours are here, in French) with some nice surfing waves and
holes; mostly between WW class II and III+. Nothing spectacular, but nice.
Swimming is relatively safe due to smooth, rounded rocks, so it's a good place for
beginning playboaters. There is a camping place next to the course.
Best time: April-September
How to get there
On the freeway from Lyon to Valence (A7), take the exit Ampuis (take exit Chanas if you're coming from the south). Once in St Pierre de Boeuf, follow the signs to Parc des Eaux Vives.. See also MapQuest, where after some searching and zooming, you will find something like this:
You can also zoom out and zoom in.
