Paris area, River Marne, Joinville
Playspot: France, North, Paris area, River Marne, Joinville.
What's it like
This wave is created by a weir. The right hand side is small but strong, the left is larger yet easier. For this spot to be good, the Marne must be carrying lots of water, which is typically the case in winter :-(
The weir itself can be moved, so the quality of the wave is quite hard to predict. It can be an enormous hole, good for all moves, or a big green wave (only at certain high levels). It can even become a dangerous spot. Before going here, better contact Alex to double check.
Running the weir itself is forbidden (with good reasons....).
How to get there
Take the freeway A86 from Paris and take the exit "Joinville le Pont". Drive behind the RER (rail station), then cross the bridge over the Marne and make a right u-turn immediately after the bridge. Now turn left and follow the river for about 1 km.
