The non-profit challenges young adults with cancer to race around the Palms Casino during a premiere oncology conference Denver, CO— Aril 24, 2013- FIRST DESCENTS, a Denver-based non-profit providing free outdoor adventures to young adults fighting and surviving cancer will be challenging up to 60 attendees of the 6th Annual OMG! Cancer Summit for Young Adults (OMG2013) to the first adventure breakout session of its kind.

This premier oncology conference and social networking event for young adults with cancer is the largest gathering of young adult patients, survivors, caregivers, professional and advocates in the world. This is a three-and-a-half day conference with more than 650 attendees with 50 expert speakers and 25 unique sessions hosted at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas.

OMGFIRST DESCENTS’ breakout session will begin with attendees finding the other four members of their team. Once they find their teammates they will have to complete four challenges all around the Palms Casino. The first challenge will be a puzzle that directs them toward the second challenge and so forth. Each challenge will be FIRST DESCENTS inspired (surfing, climbing, kayaking) and to show that each team completed the challenge they will need to use social media networks to post about the challenge with appropriate tagging. The first team to complete all four challenges correctly will be the winners and receive a great prize.

Plus they learn about what we do here at First Descents and the amazing adventures they could be a part of.”

Also making an appearance will be FDmobile, a van designed to bring the FIRST DESCENTS experience to events, organizations and small groups. FDmobile brings healing directly to survivors and fighters and also brings awareness to FIRST DESCENTS programs. FDmobile is outfitted with surfboards, stand-up paddleboards, kayaks, bikes and climbing equipment to bring the outdoors directly to individuals.
