Wave Sport Sponsorships for 2012:

• Teva Mountain Games (May 31 – June 3, 2012). The Teva Mountain Games, held in Vail, Colo., are the nation’s largest celebration of adventure sports, art, and mountain culture. This year, Wave Sport is set to sponsor the Kayak Freestyle competition and will have a booth in Gear Town, so be sure to stop by.

• American Whitewater. Wave Sport is a “Class III” Level Sponsor for 2012 and is also donating boats to AW fundraising initiatives to support their efforts for conservation and restoration of the whitewater resources. Be sure to stop by and say hey at the Wave Sport booth at Gauley Fest (September 14-16, 2012, in Summersville, W.Va.).

• USA Freestyle Kayaking Series. This year, Wave Sport is committed to giving back to the USA Freestyle Kayaking Series with boats to be raffled off at events to benefit the organization, including the New Belgian FIBArk Whitewater Festival in Salida, Colo., and the Montana Whitewater Championships in Missoula.

• Team River Runner. Team River Runner (TRR), founded in 2004, works to provide healing to veterans and active duty personnel who have been injured while serving our country. Wave Sport supports our troops and TRR’s efforts with a partnership to provide boats and pro deals to those in the program and booth-sharing opportunities to help promote awareness for the organization at several major festivals.

• Kelsey Thompson/Balance. The nine-part web series, “Balance,” is a project by Wave Sport athlete Kelsey Thompson that will share the stories of three individuals who live their lives in very different ways. The series will emphasize the importance of balancing different activities and sets out to inspire viewers to follow their passions to find true happiness. Wave Sport is sponsoring production as the series moves toward an October 2012 release.

• Chris Wing Films. For 2012, Wave Sport is sponsoring to film productions by Wave Sport team athlete Chris Wing. The first, “Whitewater Troubleshooter,” is an instructional web series focused on inspiring creative thought toward kayak instruction. The initial episode was released on Wing’s website in February 2012; the rest will be released throughout the spring/summer season. The second project, “Cuyahoga Homecoming,” will increase exposure for an ongoing ecological and recreational proposal for the infamous Cuyohoga River. Shooting throughout April, the film will focus on dam removal along the river and the kayaking community around it.
